Newel Scoon, CEO

With over 25 years of experience in the transportation industry, Newel Scoon is a seasoned leader renowned for his strategic insight and operational excellence. Since joining Coach USA in January 1999, Newel has held a range of leadership roles, each building upon his strong foundation in both financial and operational management. Newel began his journey with Coach USA as an Accounting Clerk at One Bus Inc., quickly advancing to Assistant Controller for One Bus and Independent Bus Co., where he honed his financial acumen. In 2005, he transitioned to operations, serving as Safety Director at the Elizabeth, NJ facility, followed by his promotion to Assistant General Manager of Suburban Transit. In these roles, Newel oversaw key operational initiatives and drove improvements in service delivery and efficiency. In 2012, Newel became Service Development Manager at Megabus.com, where he played a pivotal role in shaping business development strategies and enhancing customer service standards. His leadership was further demonstrated as General Manager of both Community Coach and Shortline, Coach USA’s largest operation, where he managed complex operations with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.

In August 2021, Newel was appointed Vice President of Operations for the East Region, responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations, ensuring safety, optimizing efficiency, and meeting fiscal objectives. His leadership was critical in advancing the company’s strategic goals. In October 2024, Newel's role was expanded to encompass oversight of all US operations as Regional Vice President. In addition to this responsibility, Newel has also been elected to the prestigious Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) Board of Directors. This election highlights his dedication to safety and service excellence in the transportation industry.Newel’s leadership and industry expertise continue to make a significant impact both within Coach USA and in the broader transportation sector.
